With over 1.1 million views on YouTube and counting, La’Sondra Ginn is amongst some of the most popular beauty vloggers on YouTube.  Born in Saginaw, Michigan and currently residing in Kansas City, MO, La’Sondra is not only a vlogger, but she is also a makeup artist and plus-size model.  Her company, Hunnie Mi Contour, offers beauty services, such as full-face makeup services and more!  FABUtainment had the opportunity to chat with La’Sondra about her vlog, her makeup artistry, and her modeling career.
FABUtainment:  When and why did you decide to become a vlogger?
LG:  Actually, my best friend Rachelle Poole told me I should make a YouTube channel and if I didn’t like it, I could delete it.  I kept the channel, and now I’ve been a vlogger for almost 6 years.
FABUtainment:  What is the most challenging aspect of being a vlogger?
LG:  The most challenging part is to keep yourself out there far as keeping your name out there, as well as keeping fresh new content available for your subscribers and viewers.
FABUtainment:  Who are some of your favorite vloggers?
LG:  Ms Chanda, phillydiva, lakiastar, sofreshdyamond tattedcreolegoddess, theepinkxperience, makeupbynamaisa, and passion jonesz.
FABUtainment:  You have over a million views on YouTube!  How did it make you feel to know there were so many people out there viewing your videos?
LG:  Actually, I’m still in shock about that! I’m just a regular woman that loves to do makeup, model and vlog.
FABUtainment:  When and why did you decide to become a makeup artist?
LG:  I’ve had a lot of people ask me to do their makeup and in 2012, I finally went for it! I began to pursue makeup artistry as a career.
FABUtainment:  What are some of your favorite makeup brands?
LG:  BH Cosmetics, MAC, Black Radiance, Milani Cosmetics, Morphe Brushes, and the list goes on and on…..
FABUtainment:  What are some common makeup faux pas or mistakes you see women make when it comes to applying makeup?
LG:  Common faux pas are eyebrows.  I see women over exaggerating their brows.  I tell my hunnies to use their natural eyebrow shape as a guide.  If you have naturally thick brows just get them shaped up.   That’s it! If you’re like me and you have very thin eyebrows, slightly fill them in using an eyebrow pencil . You want to mimic that you have eyebrow hair.
FABUtainment:  What celebrities would you like to apply makeup for?
LG:  I don’t have a specific celebrity that I would work on, so anyone that would give me the opportunity to work with them I would take it.
FABUtainment:  What challenges have you faced entering the modeling industry as a plus size model?
LG:  It’s really hard to get your name out there and to get noticed.
FABUtainment:  What do you think about Ashley Graham’s Sports Illustrated cover?  What do you think about the backlash she has received from people criticizing her for the cover?
LG:  Ashley graham looked amazing! I’m so glad that plus-size models push the mainstream doors down and let the world know that we’re here and we can do the same modeling jobs other models can do as well.
FABUtainment:  If you had to choose between being a vlogger, makeup artist, or model, which would you choose and why?
LG:  I would choose to be a makeup artist because it is a passion of mine. I love to be able to show my talent as a makeup artist.
FABUtainment:  What are your future goals for your career?  Where do you see yourself within the next 3-5 years as a vlogger, makeup artist, or model?
LG:  As a vlogger, I see myself networking with more brands and collaborating with other content creators to put out great content.  As a makeup artist, I plan to have my own beauty bar where clients can come have their makeup, hair, and nails done and get the whole nine yards.  I would also like to have celebrity clientele.  As a model, I would like to be on the cover of magazines and walk in Kansas City Fashion Week.
