24-year-old Kambre Lewis is looking to make her big break into the modeling industry. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Kambre has been modeling for almost three years, and she loves it! She has walked in three fashion shows and is a model for Stacked Apparel , a plus-size clothing website for today’s curvy women. Check our interview with Kambre below!
FABUtainment:  How did you get your start as a model?
KL:  I started modeling for one of my friends who was looking to start her own line of plus-size clothing, and then it kind of took off from there. I started getting different calls from other designers to walk in fashion shows and do photo shoots.
FABUtainment:  What is the most challenging aspect of being a model?  What do you like the most and least about modeling?
KL:  What I love most about modeling is the adrenaline rush I get from it. When I’m behind the camera or on the runway, I feel like a totally different person and I LOVE IT! What I like least about modeling is how hectic behind stage at fashion shows can be. Some challenges I have faced being a plus-size model is the backlash I get from both men and women saying mean things. Apparently, they think only a size 2 equals healthy.
FABUtainment: Who is your favorite model, or who inspires you?
KL:  Some of my favorite plus size models right now include Ashley Graham and Liris Crosse. They inspire me because they take risks.
FABUtainment:  Do you plan to pursue modeling as a full-time career? If not, what careers are you interested in pursuing?
KL:  Pursuing a modeling career is something that I would absolutely love to do, although music is my first love.
FABUtainment:  What do you think about the controversy surrounding the Sports Illustrated cover featuring Ashley Graham? What are some of the challenges that you face being a plus-size model?
KL:  When I saw Ashley Graham on the cover of Sports Illustrated I was so excited because she is the first to ever to grace the cover as a plus size woman on their magazine.
FABUtainment:  The Curves & Confidence BBW Runway Show is coming up in a couple of weeks. How did you feel about being chosen as a model? What do you look forward to with the show?
KL:  I will be walking in the 2016 BBW Curves and Confidence Show. I was excited being chosen to walk for four amazing designers! We have something that’s gonna catch everyone’s eye at this event! I can’t wait for everyone to see. Stay tuned!!
FABUtainment:  What other events/fashion shows do you have coming up?
KL:  I also will be gracing the stage for KC Catwalk on June 5th.
FABUtainment:  What advice would you give to aspiring models?
KL:  Some advice I would give to other models is to never give up even if you are the only one rooting for you. Keep going because God has a plan for everyone.
