Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith release their Executive produced film Sprinter on April 24, 2019. The film, starring Dale Elliott, Lorraine Toussaint, David Alan Grier, and Dennis Titus, and directed by Storm Saulter, follows Akeem Sharp (Dale Elliott) also known as the “Rasta Rocket.” He is Jamaica’s next track-and-field star who hopes to take his career to the United States to reunite with his mother Donna (Lorraine Toussaint).
Akeem’s dreams of becoming a track star are plagued with issues with his father, an older brother who is a scam artist, and an absentee mother living illegally in the United States. Kadeem Wilson (Ghett’ A Life), Dennis Titus (The Mighty Quinn), Shantol Jackson (Yardie), Bryshere Y. Gray (Empire), and David Alan Grier (In Living Color) with songs by Grammy Award winning artist NE-YO and Jamaican dancehall performer Shenseea. Sprinter has already won awards for Best Director and Best Feature Film at the 2018 American Black Film Festival and Best Narrative Feature at the 2019 Pan African Film Festival.
